Justin Timberlake Stole My Blog Post

So what do you do when you are all ready to hit “publish” on something you wrote months ago and wake up to find Justin Timberlake made a speech the evening before with your entire message and, I might add, said it way better than you could have?

In that moment, you have two choices:

Choice A:  Revert back to your late 90s/early 2000s BSB vs. N*SYNC ways and refuse to sing a long to another one of his songs or ever watch another one of his skits with Jimmy Fallon.

Choice B:  Admit that as much as 12 year old Catherine doesn’t like it, 28 year old Catherine LOVES Justin Timberlake and LOVED his speech even more.

Truth be told, grown up Catherine adores anything that encourages people to dream and live outside the box. I want us to be innovators. I want us to take risks and not worry about others thinking we’re weird or different. I want us to embrace how different we are.

I don’t want you to worry about whether or not someone else likes you or approves of your dream, I want you to like you!  I want you to believe in yourself.  And I want you to chase that dream!  So if it means the same message is repeated over and over again, until we believe it, then I’m all for that! (And hey, maybe JT will read this and feel so bad for stealing my message that he introduces me to Jimmy Fallon and it will be a bucket list dream come true!!! Sorry, that was a bit of a digression but you never know!)

Dear Friends,

When you’re attempting to chase your dreams, it is inevitable you will encounter “haters” and people who just don’t get what you are trying to do. Do not allow their ignorance to become a measuring stick for your success. Instead remember these powerful words of Theodore Roosevelt:

“It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again… who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly…”

There will always be critics. There will always be people who label you, misunderstand you, jump to conclusions, and make rash judgements about you, BUT the critic’s opinion holds no value, unless you let it(click to tweet)

Sooner NOT Later is not a place for critics or spectators but a place for those who have been wounded by critics and self doubt, a place for those who need a reminder of the strength found in being vulnerable and “daring greatly.”  A place for you to learn to believe in yourself and chase your dreams. You are who I created this community for. And you are who I choose to share my raw and unpolished journey with.  You are the people I want in the arena with me.
